How to take care of your skin in "Monsoon"?

Monsoon has a major effect in your daily skincare routine. The increase in humidity can lead to various skin diseases such as acne, fungal infections, and excessive oiliness. If your skin is originally oily and acne-prone, then you may have to take an extra care during monsoon.

Here are some essential skincare tips to maintain healthy and glowing skin during the monsoon:

  • Regular Cleansing: Get rid of dirt, sweat and excess oil by regularly washing your face. Wash at least twice a day with sulfate-free, gentle face wash. Don't use any harsh cleansers that can remove the natural oil from your skin.
  • Exfoliation: Exfoliation is useful especially to remove dead skin cells. If not removed, it can clog pores and cause breakouts. Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week to keep it smooth and radiant.
  • Toner:  Toners are useful to balance the pH level of the skin and Apply a mild, alcohol-free toner to balance the skin's pH levels and tighten the pores. You can use some natural toners such as Rose water to sooth your skin.
  • Moisturising: It is required to maintain the hydration level of the skin even if the weather is humid. It's essential to keep your skin moisturized. Use lightweight, oil-free, or gel-based moisturizer suitable based on your skin type.
  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen is important in all seasons and monsoon is not an exception. UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds, causing damage to your skin. Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 - broad spectrum. Apply it atleast 20 minutes before stepping out.
  • Acne and Breakouts: Use products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide if your skin is prone to acne to control breakouts. Excessive use can lead to dryness and irritation. So use them in moderation
  • Face Masks: Use hydrating face masks to restore moisture and soothe any irritation caused by the humidity. It is good way to pamper your skin.

  • No heavy makeup: Minimize the use of heavy makeup products as they can clog your pores and lead to breakouts during monsoon. Go for more natural look with lighter make-up.

  • Keep hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and flush out toxins.

  • Balanced Diet: A healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants will benefit your skin's health. Avoid fried and oily foods in excess amount.

  • Face Wipes: Face wipes are most essentials for oily skin. Keep facial wipes or blotting papers handy to quickly clean and refresh your face when needed.

  • Avoid touching your face: Avoid touching your face frequently as it can transfer dirt and bacteria, that can lead to breakouts.

  • Keep your feet dry: Fungal infections are common, especially on the feet during monsoon. Dry your feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, to prevent infections.

You can surely enjoy monsoon to its fullest without worrying too much about your skin if you follow these simple steps.
